No offense, but... There are some people who are getting too fake on dA. They only want posts, comments, or to see how many friends and page views they can get. So let's see who will actually re-post this. This is a test to see who's paying attention. This is a test to see how many people in my friends list actually pay attention to me. Copy and re-post in your own journal. Let's see who the real people are. Re-post this if you aren't a fake.
Don't reply... just copy and paste this in a new bulletin as "Fake Deviants."

On January 18th, Deviantart will be closed for 12 hours.
It is one of many websites doing this.

This is to protest the SOPA Bill.

Just letting you know beforehand. Feel free to forward this journal to any people as you want so they know what is going on.

And also this bit as well:

The effect that the SOPA bill could have on the United States and several websites that could be chosen to be blocked is universal.

The Senate is scheduled to vote on the internet censorship bill on Tuesday the 24th, and unless we can find 41 senators to block the vote, it is going to pass. What AmericanCensorship-dot-org is now demanding is for American users to meet with local senators during the January recess and ask them to vote it down.

Spread the word and maybe consult with your local senator alongside possibly thousands of others.

If this is true, save everything into your hard drives, be it drawings or written stories/poetry, your photos and other things that are on your dA Galleries before the 'black out' happens, use every second to save your stuff just in case dA closes indefinitely after this small 12 hour protest.

This is just me speculating the possibility that dA will shut down and your drawings/stories/photos will disappear, I am not sure if this will happen, but it's best to be safe than sorry.

it will be down from 8am to 8pm est time on the 18th.

More information can be found here as well [link] perhaps in an easier format to understand was could possibly happen.

I suspect this does not mean your images will be gone completely and forever. Chances are it is only going to be temporary and all images and the like will be returned to their original state and place after the protest is over.
HOWEVER, as with many times before should dA actually choose to participate in this protest, expect glitches and things to be a bit messy for a few days. dA is a pretty big site so I am sure it is not easy to regain everything to normal after such a big event.
Then again, I am not a moderator or creator of this site so it may be easy.

ALSO: You should know that this will have an affect on people from other countries, particularly if the website they are visiting/using is an American based website (built/made/designed in America). I cannot say for sure though.
